It has been a goal of mine to become more consistent in my bible reading, so with the start of 2008.  I started a "new" bible reading plan ( so far I have been doing quite well  Smiley ) Let's hold each other accountable for getting into God's word on a regular.
Do you read your Bible daily or regularly? What did you read today?

I'll start it up.

Today I read Psalms15-17 & Job 11-12 (Boy, Job was doing some heavy complaining to his friends about his plight and his friend Zophar responded back to him in passage 11 & Job basically complained on on passage 12)

I read Psalm 91 on a daily basis. Lately I have been digging into Hebrews.

Sorry, I didn't elaborate.....
To me, Psalm 91 talks about dwelling in the secret place of the most high God...meaning, as long as you put your trust and faith in him, no matter what tests and trials may come your way, (whether it be snare of the fowler, noisome pestilence, terror by night, arrow that flieth by day, pestilence that walketh in darkness, destruction that wasteth by noonday...to me translates to every evil work and force of the devil), but no matter what it is, God is going to give his angels charge over us, to keep us.
So no matter what evil force may rise or come against us, we must know that God's got us covered with his feathers, and under his wings, we must trust....and know that w/Him, everything's gonna be alright.

I read the 6th Chpt of Ephesians earlier this morning.
I focused mainly on v. 10-17...
v. 10 says to be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might.
v. 11-17 talks about putting on the whole armour of God so that we may be able to stand against the wiles(tricks) of the devil.
God has us protected from every evil thing that has, does, and uses to keep us down.
I mean, we have the breastplate of righteousness, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit(the Word).
We all have to be reminded of just how good God really is to us, and know that as long as we strive to be like Him, He's gonna continuously have our back, even when it seems like He doesn't....and even I have to remind myself that too!

Today, I read Judges 7-11.  Whew, it's a lot of history and it was a struggle for me to get through it, but I did.

Judges 7 Gideon defeats the Midianites with only 300 men.  He started our with 32,000 men and then God told him that he had too many and told him to send all those that were afraid home.  22,000 went home...God told him he still had too many and he separated them further and eventually there were only 300.  God wanted to get the glory from the situation.

8- Gideon made a sacrad ephod of gold and put it in his hometown of Ophrah.  The Israelites began to worship it and it became a trap for Gideon and his family.  The land was at peace for 40 years -the rest of Gideon's life and when Gideon died the Israelites began worshipping Baal and made Baal-berinth there god.  They forgot all about he Lord and what Gideon had done for them.

9- Gideon had 70 sons + 1 son by his concubine named Abimelech.  Abimelch went to Shechem to visit his uncles ( on his mom's side) and  asked them did they want to serve all 70 of Gideon's other sons (his half brothers) or just one man (him).  They decided on him, so Abimelech killed all of Gideon's sons except for the youngest who escaped and hid.  Then the people made him their King.  He was eventually killed after he went on a series of attacks with his men.  When his men saw that he was dead they disbanded and went home.  This was his punishment for murdering the brothers

10-Tola ,and then Jair judge Israel.  The Israelites still worshipped other gods and turn from the Lord. God turned them over to the Philistines & the Ammonites and they were oppressed for 18 years.  They finally cried out to God and put away the false gods. They served the Lord.

11-Jephthah became Israel's judge.

Whew...I told ya'll it was a lot.

Good morning:

Proverbs 8:17 says I love them that love me; and those that seek me early(and diligently) shall find me.
Seeking Him early only gives us the strength to take on every single trick of the enemy that he has set out to throw at us. Personally, I have neglected doing so(seeking God early, as I used to), and I have definately noticed the difference. So as long as I seek Him early, I know that He will equip me to handle anything, no matter how small or large!

This morning I also read Hebrews 10, and I focused on verses 16-26. Hebrews 10:26 says For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins.
So if we go on intentionally or even diliberately(carefully thought out, premeditated), sinning, even after we have received the knowledge of the Truth(the Word of God), there remains no more sacrifice to atone(to make amends) for any of our sins(wrongdoings).

Have a blessed day AGLFam.

BUT IF WE ARE THE BODY WHY AREN'T IS ARMS REACHING

« Reply #9 on: April 07, 2008, 05:56:58 AM »

I read in Exodus 14:11,
This is when the children of Isreal where complaining and when they couldn't find no way to escape from the their enemies.

Out of this  I learnt  that it is very easy for us to complain when things are not going the way we want them to.  It is never easy to sit back when you see crisis, there must be a complain. But I notice that through it all God has take them through even though they sin against him and worship false gods.

So tell me will he not take us through our crisis? Undecided

Good Morning:

This morning, I read James v.2-6
v.2 My brethern, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations:
(be of joy when u encounter trials or fall n2 many temptations)

v.3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
(b/c these trials/temptations will strengthen ur faith and patience)

v.4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
(let patience come n2 play, and do it's thorough/complete work, so that u will lack nothing)

v.5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
(if u lack wisdom, ask God for it, w/o finding fault in man...it will be given 2 u)

v.6 But let him ask in faith without wavering.........
(ask in faith, don't doubt!)

Love u all,

Well I just read the first chapter of Hosea.  I actually read the whole story before which is a very interesting book.  It talks about Hosea and how God told him to take upon an adulteress woman to be his wife and to bare his children.  God was not pleased the Isreal and was getting ready to destroy them.  Hosea had 3 children, and God told him to name the first one Jezreel, because he would soon punish the house of Jehu for the massacre at Jezreel.  He had a girl next and God to him to name her Lo-Ruhamah, for he will no longer show love to the house of Israel, and the final son was named Lo-Ammi, which is interpreted  for you are not my people, and I am not your God.

God was sending a message to the Isrealite about his feelings towards them and his plans for them.

What a mighty God we serve, and creative....lol

"...God is our refuge and strength ..."

Hey Everybody,   Smiley

I've been reading Psalms 90 (Book IV, of the Psalter - A prayer of Moses, the man of God.)

This song-prayer ... was the only one that is in our bible to be written by Moses.  Though it may not be the most popular of the Psalms, to me it carries alot of spiritual answers within it.

Much love,

Thru-HIM

Jesus delivered the man that was possessed with the legion.
This gives me confidence in God knowing even the Devils recognize the true and living God. So if the devil knows that why is he still playing the devil............. Huh Huh, Undecided
I'm saying this to say that Christ was not afraid to pray for the possess man, because the legions asked that they be not destroyed, and that they only be cast into a herd of swine. They were obedient, that means the devil has to be subjected to the true and living God. Isn't God POWERFUL!!! so am charging us  never you under estimate our God.
Luv, peace and joy....................shanie Wink

1 Corinthians 1-2
Paul speaking to the Corinth church.

Chapter 1
Paul told them that God gave them spiritual gifts.  God gave them (& us) everything we need until Christ's return.  God will keep us strong until His return.

He told them to stop argueing among themselves because it causes division in the church.

God made it possible for us to be in Christ.

Chapter 2
God has given us His spirit and only those who have the Holy Spirit understand it.  People who don't have it do not understand it.

1 Corinthians 3-4
3 Paul still speaking to the Corinth church through a letter about quarreling with one another regarding leaders.
He tells them he has laid the foundation teaching them of Jesus Christ and anyone who comes after must do the same...teach Jesus Christ.   It does not matter who comes after him as long as they teach Jesus Christ qand not take pride in a particular leader.
4 A person that is put in charge as a leader must be faithful.  God will judge faithfulness and we should not jump to conclusions as to whether someone is faithful or not.  Do not brag about one leader while putting down another.  He speaks to the Corinthians about their ways and let's them know he is their spiritual father and asks them to follow his example.
